The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in conjunction with the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC) will host the Natural Disaster Awareness for Community Leaders (AWR-310) training on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The four-and-a-half hour training is offered virtually at no cost to eligible participants. The course is meant to increase understanding of disasters, risk assessment in the context of disaster management, prevailing emergency management procedures and operations, and the different vulnerability factors. Attendees will be familiarized with the available resources for natural disaster preparedness and planning, learn how to recognize and define the roles and responsibilities that may be expected to be assumed by a community leader and understand the roles that first responders and other support personnel are likely to assume in the response and recovery phase of an emergency.
The target audience for this course include emergency management personnel, community volunteers, and partners from the Government of Guam, federal, military, private, and non-profit organizations.
