The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a high surf advisory, in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, until 6 p.m. Monday. Large breaking waves of 9 to 11 feet tonight and 7 to 9 feet Monday are expected along north and west facing reefs. There is also a high risk of rip currents.
Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion is expected. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) remind the community to avoid hazardous surf, especially north and west facing reefs and beaches. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags, and signs.
