No Tsunami Threat to Marianas from Alaska Earthquake

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.3 and later upgraded to an 8.2, that occurred 91 km ESE of Perryville, Alaska, at 4:15 p.m. ChST, with a depth of 46.7 km.

As advised by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, there is NO tsunami threat to Guam or the Marianas at this time.

This will be the final statement issued by GHS/OCD unless additional information is received.
