The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in conjunction with the Guam Department of Education, the Mayors’ Council of Guam, and the American Red Cross of Guam, will host the Shelter Management Training virtually on Monday, June 21 and Tuesday, June 22, 2021, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The two-day training is offered at no cost to eligible participants and will cover the various roles and responsibilities performed at an evacuation shelter, tasks and procedures for operating a shelter in a COVID-19 environment, and best practices for shelter operations. The training is meant to provide attendees a better understanding of the principles of sheltering, the ability to identify client needs, describe different types of shelters, identify how a shelter is structured and operates, and provide an understanding of the types of work shelter service workers perform.
Attendees for this course include emergency management personnel and partners from the Government of Guam, federal, military, private, and non-profit organizations.
