The National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office, Guam, following a worldwide initiative through the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), invite the community to celebrate “World Meteorological Day” on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
The World Meteorological Organization commemorates its coming into force since its establishment on March 23, 1950. It aims to showcase the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to the safety and wellbeing of society. This year’s theme is, “The Ocean, our Climate and Weather”.
The community is invited to witness the virtual proclamation signing of World Meteorological Day on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. via the Governor of Guam’s Facebook page at http://facebook.com/govlouguam.
GHS/OCD encourages the community to increase their general understanding of the links between the ocean, our climate, and the weather. By recognizing the impacts of climate change and awareness of day-to-day weather, island residents can strengthen their abilities to mitigate their risk to natural disasters and to protect life and property./p>
