JIC RELEASE NO. 506 - Results: 19 of 469 Test Positive for COVID-19; Governor Leon Guerrero Signs Executive Order No. 2020-45

Results: 19 New Cases of COVID-19

Nineteen (19) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 469 tests performed on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Twelve (12) cases were identified through contact tracing. Two (2) cases reported recent travel history and were identified in quarantine.

 

To date, there have been a total of 7,257 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 121 deaths, 429 cases in active isolation and 6,707 not in active isolation.

The COVID Area Risk (CAR) Score accounts for the incidence of new cases, how well current testing identifies these cases, and the rate of spread. The ideal long-term goal is to sustain a CAR Score of 2.5 or less, which has been shown to correlate with very low to zero COVID-related hospitalizations and deaths.

Governor Leon Guerrero Signs Executive Order No. 2020-45

Today, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero signed Executive Order No. 2020-45 (EO 2020-45), relative to amending restrictions during Pandemic Condition of Readiness 1 (PCOR 1). In addition to continuing the “Safer At Home” Advisory, EO 2020-45 allows such that: 

 
  • EFFECTIVE AT 8:00AM ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2020, SOCIAL GATHERINGS AND CONGREGATIONS, as a meeting for a common and singular purpose of more than one (1) person where individuals are not members of a single household, shall be limited to no more than fifteen (15) persons. The terms “social gathering” and “congregation” are not intended to include meetings of businesses, organizations, or government agencies held for the purpose of carrying out official business of such entities. 

 
  • EFFECTIVE AT 8:00AM ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2020, INDOOR DINING FOR EATING AND DRINKING ESTABLISHMENTS, shall be permitted at eating and drinking establishments at no more than twenty-five percent (25%) of the occupancy load, subject to requirements and limitations set forth in applicable Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) Guidance, including the requirement that no more than six (6) people be seated together when dining indoors, with six (6) feet distance between tables. Outdoor dining shall be permitted with no more than ten (10) persons per table or party. 

 

Exemption Request From Government Quarantine Must Be Made Online

DPHSS reminds all critical services workers, essential healthcare professionals, and passengers with medical emergencies seeking restriction of movement or exemptions from the Government of Guam Quarantine Facility following off-island travel to submit their requests online at dphss.guam.gov/quarantine. Requests must be submitted at least 10 days prior to arrival. DPHSS reviews requests in the order in which they are received and will only review requests submitted online.
