113th COVID-19-Related Fatality Reported
The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 113th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the U.S. Naval Hospital (USNH) at approximately 6:30 a.m. The patient was a 63-year-old female with underlying conditions that were further compounded by COVID-19. She was admitted to USNH on December 4, 2020 and was a known positive case. 

"While the pain of losing a loved one never leaves, it is profoundly felt during the holiday season. To her family and friends, Jeff, Lt. Governor Josh, and I send our heartfelt condolences and sympathies," said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. "As we continue to feel the effects of COVID-19, life seems even more precious this Christmas. Do not hesitate to remind loved ones just how important they are; reach out to those with whom you may have lost touch; and cherish every precious moment with those close to your heart."

Results: 17 Test Positive for COVID-19

To date, there have been a total of 6,959 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 113 deaths, 790 cases in active isolation and 6,056 not in active isolation. 

Of these 17 cases, three (3) cases were identified through contact tracing. One (1) case reported recent travel and was identified in quarantine.

As of December 4, 2020, the COVID Area Risk (CAR) Score is 2.0. The CAR Score accounts for the incidence of new cases, how well current testing identifies these cases, and the rate of spread. DPHSS COVID-19 Community Mass Testing Continues Tomorrow, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS), in collaboration with the Office of the Governor, Mayors’ Council of Guam, Guam National Guard, Department of Public Works, Guam Police Department, Department of Youth Affairs, and other Government of Guam and Federal Agencies, continues free COVID-19 mass tomorrow, Saturday, December 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m..

Mass testing is being held at three locations:

  • North: Yigo Gym, Yigo
  • Central: Tiyan Carnival Grounds, Tiyan
  • South: Agat Senior Center, Agat

 

There will be no community testing on Sunday. The Northern Region Community Health Center (NRCHC) will remain open by appointment only.

DPHSS will offer up to 300 tests tomorrow. Tests will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. For the safety of the community and the nurses, only four (4) people per vehicle are allowed to be tested. No symptoms are needed to qualify for testing. Please bring a picture ID.


One GDOE Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19
On Friday, December 4, 2020, the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) confirmed that one GDOE employee from L.P. Untalan Middle School tested positive for COVID-19. Cleaning and disinfecting of the campus was not required as the employee had not recently been on campus. Hard copy packet and food distribution will not be interrupted.

The Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center (GBHWC) has a Crisis Hotline that is available 24/7 at (671) 647-8833/4. For those feeling anxious, stressed, overwhelmed or are needing to talk to someone, GBHWC has experienced providers available and ready to assist the community with any heightened stress and anxiety experienced as a result of COVID-19.
