Results: 22 Test Positive for COVID-19

To date, there have been a total of 6,942 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 112 deaths, 800 cases in active isolation and 6,030 not in active isolation. Of these 22 cases, five (5) cases were identified through contact tracing. Four (4) cases reported recent travel and were identified in quarantine.
As of December 3, 2020, the COVID Area Risk (CAR) Score is 2.1. The CAR Score accounts for the incidence of new cases, how well current testing identifies these cases, and the rate of spread. DPHSS COVID-19 Community Mass Testing Continues 

The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS), in collaboration with the Office of the Governor, Mayors’ Council of Guam, Guam National Guard, Department of Public Works, Guam Police Department, Department of Youth Affairs, and other Government of Guam and Federal Agencies, continues free COVID-19 mass testing this week.

Mass testing is being held at three locations:

• North: Yigo Gym, Yigo

• Central: Tiyan Carnival Grounds, Tiyan

• South: Agat Senior Center, Agat

The schedule is as follows:

• Friday, December 4, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

• Saturday, December 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be no community testing on Sunday. The Northern Region Community Health Center (NRCHC) will remain open by appointment only.

DPHSS will offer up to 200 on Friday and up to 300 tests on Saturday. Tests will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. 

For the safety of the community and the nurses, only four (4) people per vehicle are allowed to be tested. No symptoms are needed to qualify for testing. Please bring a picture ID.

Guam Now a Trusted Travel Partner in State of Hawai'i

DPHSS has signed an agreement with the State of Hawai’i Department of Health designating Guam as a Trusted Testing and Travel Partner. The agreement, entered into on November 20, 2020, establishes that travelers who obtain a negative COVID-19 test result from one of 13 Clinical Laboratories Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certified testing locations on Guam be allowed to bypass the State of Hawai’i’s mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Hawai’i requires all travelers ages five (5) and older take the Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) from a CLIA lab and will only accept test results from a Trusted Testing and Travel Partner. Tests must be taken no more than 72 hours prior to the flight departure time. CLIA certified labs on Guam must fill out in typewritten format the State of Hawai’i Safe Travels Program Trusted Testing Partner COVID-19 Test Result Reporting Form to report results. 

All travelers must have a negative test result from a Trusted Testing and Travel Partner prior to departure. This means the traveler must upload their test result in PDF to an established account at travel.hawaii.gov prior to departure. Alternatively, if the traveler is having difficulty uploading, they may print a hard copy of the negative test result. A hard copy in hand is recommended. 

If your result returns positive before you travel, DO NOT TRAVEL. Self-isolate and wait for DPHSS to contact you for further instructions. If your result returns positive while en route to Hawai’i, immediately inform an airline or airport representative. You will be required to self-isolate until cleared by the Hawai’i Department of Health.

Firefighter Tests Positive for COVID-19 

On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, a Guam Fire Department firefighter assigned to the Talofofo Fire Station, tested positive for COVID-19 and remains in isolation. To reduce the possibility of transmission, two other personnel assigned to the same unit were ordered to quarantine at home until they can be tested on Saturday. Emergency operations will continue, with adjustments made in scheduling for the firefighters assigned. Decontamination of the fire station was performed. 

Since the onset of COVID-19 in March, nine uniformed and civilian employees have tested positive for COVID-19. All previously reported confirmed cases have been cleared and have since returned to duty.

Three GPD Recruits, One GPD Civilian Worker Test Positive For COVID-19

On Wednesday, December 2, 2020, the Guam Police Department was made aware of four (4) additional GPD personnel that tested positive for COVID-19. Three (3) of the newly confirmed cases are trainees from the 11th Police Training Cycle and one (1) is a Civilian Support Employee assigned to GPD's Administrative Services Bureau. All personnel who tested positive remain in isolation. To date, 36 GPD employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
