Cumulative Results
To date, there have been a total of 3,756 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 66 deaths, 1,340 cases in active isolation and 2,350 not in active isolation. Of those cases, 3,472 are classified as civilians and 284 are military service members. These represent cases confirmed from March 12 to October 18, 2020.
The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) releases the official COVID-19 Dashboard and Situation Report on weekdays. Cases officially reported to DPHSS on Monday reflect results confirmed from Friday to Sunday.
An additional 81 cases of COVID-19 were officially reported to DPHSS, today. These 81 cases were confirmed over a three day period, between October 16-18, 2020.
From October 16-18, a total of 218 new cases of COVID-19 were officially reported. 137 of these cases were previously reported by the Joint Information Center on Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18, 2020 and reflect results reported from DPHSS. The breakdown of reporting to DPHSS by day is as follows:
- 108 on October 16
- 88 on October 17
- 22 on October 18
Of the 218 cases, 31 cases were identified through contact tracing.
On Sunday, October 18, 2020 the Joint Information Center reported in error that 33 tests were positive out of 155 samples taken at the COVID-19 Community Outreach at the Yigo Gym. A total of 30 samples out of 155 were positive for COVID-19 from the outreach.

DYA Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19
On October 17, 2020, the Department of Youth Affairs (DYA) was made aware an officer had tested positive for COVID-19. The officer was off-duty when symptoms were first noticed and proceeded to be tested for COVID-19; currently, the officer is on leave.
In an abundance of caution and in accordance with guidance from DPHSS, the following precautions are in place as of this release:
- All residents are to shelter-in-place.
- All appointments for residents will be conducted over-the-phone or virtually.
- Visitation for residents will continue to be conducted over-the-phone.
- Parents of residents can contact 735-5033/5 to speak to a DYA Social Worker for further information.
- Staff and resident temperature and wellness checks will continue to be conducted and recorded during each shift.
- Wearing a face mask will continue to be required for all staff and residents.
- Increased sanitation and disinfection of units will occur more frequently during each shift.
- Incoming staff must wash their hands upon entry into the facility; both staff and clients will wash and sanitize their hands frequently throughout the day.
- DPHSS is aware of the situation and will be providing further guidance for DYA staff and residents.
