The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) tested 250 individuals for COVID-19 on Friday, June 5, 2020 with conclusive results. Zero tested positive through DPHSS and 250 tested negative for SARS-CoV-2. Results include 192 samples from COVID-19 drive-through testing held at the Sinajana Mayor’s Office.

To date, there have been 179 cases confirmed through COVID-19 testing provided with 5 deaths, 162 released from isolation, and 12 active cases. New criteria for release of cases from isolation were implemented on May 22. For persons having symptoms, at least 10 days have passed since recovery defined as resolution of fever without the use of fever- reducing medications and improvement in respiratory symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath) and any other symptoms attributed to COVID-19 infection AND at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared—or, with recurrent symptoms, at least 10 days have passed since recurrent symptoms appeared—AND at least 14 days have passed since the date of their first (or most recent) positive COVID-19 diagnostic test. For persons without symptoms, at least 14 days have passed since the date of their first (or most recent) positive COVID-19 diagnostic test assuming they have not subsequently developed symptoms since their positive test.

Executive Order No. 2020-20
Today, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero signed Executive Order (EO) No. 2020-20 relative to setting conditions for entry into Guam, permitting limited school operations, and clarification on the occupancy limit.

EO 2020-20 allows for DPHSS to implement quarantine protocols regarding the conditions for entry into Guam. All persons entering Guam will be subject to quarantine, and such quarantine will be administered in accordance with applicable Public Health Guidance. Public Health Guidance may include a requirement that individuals arriving from designated “hotspots”, as defined by DPHSS, be quarantined at a government qualified facility.

Under EO 2020-20, DPHSS may permit the opening of smaller schools for the purpose of testing a pilot program designed to inform the development of procedures and guidelines for the opening of additional schools throughout the island. DPHSS will adopt guidelines for the pilot program, which will include input from the Guam State Surgeon Cell of the Guam National Guard and the Governor’s Physicians Advisory Group. Outside of this pilot program, public and private schools on Guam serving prekindergarten through 12th grade students will remain closed for educational purposes through the end of the public health emergency.

The EO also clarifies the occupancy limit for businesses and activities permitted to operate under Pandemic Condition of Readiness (PCOR) 2. Any place of business, place of worship, or public accommodation as permitted under applicable Public Health Guidance may resume operations provided it does so at no more than 50% capacity or up to 10 people, whichever is greater.

Wildfire

Regularly clean the roof and gutters.
Maintain an area approximately 30’ away from you home that is free of anything that will burn, such as wood piles, dried leaves, newspapers and other brush.
Connect garden hoses long enough to reach any area of the home and fill garbage cans, tubs, or other large containers with water.
Review your homeowner's insurance policy and also prepare/update a list of your home's contents.

Fire Weather

Turn on your TV/radio. You’ll get the latest weather updates and emergency instructions.
Know where to go. If you are ordered to evacuate, know the route to take and have plan of where you will go. Check-in with your friends and family.
Keep your car fueled, in good condition, and stocked with emergency supplies and a change of clothes.

Drought

Conserve water

Take shorter showers.

Turn off the water while brushing your teeth or shaving.
Run the washer less frequently and only when you have a full load.
Water your lawn less frequently and do so when the temperature is cooler in the early morning or late evening.
When you run the tap to heat or cool water, keep a pitcher to store the water and use it to water plants.
Avoid washing your car.

Practice fire prevention

Don't set off fireworks when conditions are dry.
Deposit cigarette butts in the proper receptacle to avoid starting a
Pour water over camp fires and backyard fire pits to ensure they are completely out before leaving them unattended.

Follow directions from local officials. If there are restrictions on water usage, be sure to heed them.
