No Tsunami Threat to Marianas from Fiji Earthquakes

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the following earthquakes south of Fiji Islands:
 
  • Earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.8 that occurred south of the Fiji Islands, with a depth of 628.9 km, at 7:38 p.m. (ChST).
  • Earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.0 that occurred south of the Fiji Islands, with a depth of 665.3 km, at 7:51 p.m. (ChST).
  • Earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.6 that occurred south of the Fiji Islands, with a depth of 623.6 km, at 8:14 p.m. (ChST).

As advised by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, there is no tsunami threat to Guam or the Northern Mariana Islands at this time.

This will be the final statement issued by GHS/OCD unless additional information is received.
