During the last two weeks, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) Chief Medical Officer and Territorial Epidemiologist, in coordination with the Acting Chief Medical Examiner, have been conducting a review of all possible COVID-19-related deaths. This coordinated review process has resulted in the classification of two additional deaths as COVID-19-related and has brought Guam’s current COVID-19-related death count to 133.

Five (5) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 1,412 tests performed by the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) on Monday, March 1, and tests from additional labs from Friday, February 26 to Monday, March 1. Three (3) cases reported recent travel history and were identified in quarantine.

In anticipation of vaccine shipment arriving this week, COVID-19 mass vaccination clinics are scheduled to resume Monday, March 8 to Saturday, March 13, 2021, at the UOG Fieldhouse. Clinics are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will only accept those due for their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine.

The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 131st COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) on February 27, 2021, at approximately 3:04 a.m. The patient was a 36-year-old female with underlying health conditions. She was admitted to GMH on January 7, 2021, and was a known positive case.
