Nationwide Emergency Alert System Test Planned

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), is scheduled to conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) on September 20, 2018, beginning at 2:18 p.m. (EDT), which converts to Friday, September 21, 2018 at 4:18 a.m. (ChST).

GHS/OCD Host Earthquake Specific Trainings

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will host two training opportunities specific to earthquakes at the GHS/OCD facility, Agana Heights:

NWS Issues Thunderstorm Advisory

The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office Guam has issued a thunderstorm advisory for the Guam International Airport until 6 p.m. this evening.

Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport.

NWS Advisories in Effect

The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office Guam has issued a short term forecast for Guam. Through 4:15 p.m., showers and thunderstorms will continue to drop locally heavy rain of up to an additional 1 to 3 inches across northern Guam, with brief local flooding likely in urban and poor-drainage areas. Occasional lightning has also been observed.
