Tropical Depression Forms Well Northeast of the Marianas, Poses No Direct Threat

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor all systems in the region, including what is now Tropical Depression 12W. As of 7 p.m., the tropical depression was located 23.5 degrees north latitude and 153.9 degrees east longitude, about 915 miles northeast of Guam. It is moving northwest at 18 mph with maximum sustained winds of 30 mph.
   

JIC Release NO. 739 - Twenty-three of 819 Test Positive for COVID-19; COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Schedule; GDOE Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

Twenty-three (23) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 819 tests performed July 30 – August 1. Four (4) cases were identified through contact tracing. One (1) case reported recent travel history and was identified in quarantine. To date, there have been a total of 8,564 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 143 deaths, 69 cases in active isolation, and 8,352 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 1.1.
   

Thunderstorm Advisory Extended Until 4 PM

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office extended the thunderstorm advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport until 4 p.m. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport. Be alert and take precautions as required. If lightning is seen or thunder is heard, remain indoors.
   

Flood Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution in Heavy Rain

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office advised a wet monsoon pattern is expected for the Marianas before drier weather slowly returns midweek. Although all tropical cyclone development is expected to stay north of the Marianas, excessive rainfall is still expected. Showers are not expected to thin out to normal conditions until after Tuesday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office extended the thunderstorm advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport until 12 p.m. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport. Be alert and take precautions as required. If lightning is seen or thunder is heard, remain indoors.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport until 7:30 a.m. this morning. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport. Be alert and take precautions as required. If lightning is seen or thunder is heard, remain indoors.
