Two GFD Firefighters Test Positive for COVID-19
Two Guam Fire Department (GFD) firefighters assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau (FPB) tested positive for COVID-19. Both firefighters informed their Officer-In-Charge (OIC) and the Infection Control Officer (ICO) of COVID-19 related concerns prior to reporting for duty. One expressed experiencing flu-like symptoms; the other stated that a close family contact had recently tested positive for COVID-19. In accordance with GFD’s wellness policy and guidance from DPHSS, both firefighters are in home isolation. Out of an abundance of caution, the remaining personnel at the FPB have been placed on quarantine pending testing. Decontamination of all office spaces, common areas and the official vehicle were performed at the FPB at the Department of Public Works compound.
