DPHSS Places Order for Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna Vaccines
Last Friday, the Department of Public Health and Social Services’ (DPHSS) Immunization Program placed an order of 22,230 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, and 10,500 doses of Moderna vaccines, totaling 32,730 COVID-19 vaccines for the month of May. All vaccines are anticipated to arrive within three to five business days. This order is part of the 74,630 doses allocated to DPHSS for the month of May.

Results: Eight New Cases of COVID-19
Eight (8) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 543 tests performed by DPHSS on Sunday, May 2, and from tests run by other labs between Friday, April 30 to Sunday, May 2. Four (4) cases reported recent travel history and were identified in quarantine. Seven (7) cases were identified through contact tracing. Cases identified in quarantine and through contact tracing reported today are part of the seventeen (17) cases previously reported by the Joint Information Center over the past weekend.
To date, there have been a total of 7,989 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 136 deaths, 95 cases in active isolation, and 7,758 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 0.9.
The community is reminded to remain vigilant:
- Remain home if you are sick. Keep away from others who are sick and limit face-to-face contact with others.
- Keep a safe distance of 6 feet or more between yourself and others who are outside of your household.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- If visiting elderly family members, continue to practice social distancing to protect those you love.
Free COVID-19 Testing on May 4 in Tiyan
COVID-19 community testing continues on Tuesday, May 4 at the old carnival grounds in Tiyan, Barrigada from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., or while supplies last. Up to 200 tests will be offered at this site. No symptoms are needed to qualify for testing. Bring a photo ID. Testing for travel purposes will not be conducted at these community testing sites. Individuals seeking COVID-19 testing to travel off-island may contact the DPHSS Northern Region Community Health Center at 635-7525/6 to schedule an appointment. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and provide government-issued identification to validate age. The parent or legal guardian will also be required to sign a consent form on behalf of the minor to be tested for COVID-19. For the safety of the community and nurses, only four (4) people per vehicle are allowed to be tested.

UPDATE: Food Commodities Distribution Continues
The Guam Department of Education (GDOE), State Agency for the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) under the U.S.Department of Agriculture Food Nutrition Service distribution will be available to village constituents only on a first-come, first-served basis.
