JIC RELEASE NO. 654 - Six of 117 Test Positive for COVID-19; Free COVID-19 Testing on May 4 in Tiyan; COVID-19 Vaccination Schedule; UPDATE: Food Commodities Distribution Continues

Results: Six New Cases of COVID-19
Six (6) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 117 tests performed on Saturday, May 1. To date, there have been a total of 7,981 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 136 deaths, 106 cases in active isolation, and 7,739 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 0.7.

The community is reminded to remain vigilant:

  • Remain home if you are sick. Keep away from others who are sick and limit face-to-face contact with others.

  • Keep a safe distance of 6 feet or more between yourself and others who are outside of your household.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • If visiting elderly family members, continue to practice social distancing to protect those you love.

 

Free COVID-19 Testing on May 4 in Tiyan
COVID-19 community testing continues on Tuesday, May 4 at the old carnival grounds in Tiyan, Barrigada from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., or while supplies last. Up to 200 tests will be offered at this site. No symptoms are needed to qualify for testing. Bring a photo ID. Testing for travel purposes will not be conducted at these community testing sites. Individuals seeking COVID-19 testing to travel off-island may contact the DPHSS Northern Region Community Health Center at 635-7525/6 to schedule an appointment. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and provide government-issued identification to validate age. The parent or legal guardian will also be required to sign a consent form on behalf of the minor to be tested for COVID-19. For the safety of the community and nurses, only four (4) people per vehicle are allowed to be tested.

FOR: Residents 16 years and older. Minors must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian and provide government-issued identification to validate age. Upon arrival, individuals 60 years and older will be sent to the front of the line.

 

UPDATE: Food Commodities Distribution Continues 
The Guam Department of Education (GDOE), State Agency for the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) under the U.S.Department of Agriculture Food Nutrition Service distribution will be available to village constituents only on a first-come, first-served basis. A limit of three households per vehicle will be serviced at the distributions. Face masks must be worn. Bring a photo ID. Village Mayors distribution schedule is as follows:

Yigo Gym

Drive-thru distribution for Yigo constituents only from 9 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or while supplies last. The Mayor of Yigo kindly asks that individuals carpooling obtain a Yigo Mayor’s Verification prior to the distribution date in order to verify that you are residing in a separate household.  In an effort to provide opportunity for all constituents to pick-up food commodities, the Mayor sends a friendly reminder that individual’s pick-up once for their household. If there are remaining bags from the drive-thru distribution, the Yigo Mayor’s staff will deliver Door-to-Door beginning on May 3, 20201. Those who did not receive a bag for various reasons (i.e. no transportation, elderly persons, etc.) will be prioritized. Additionally, constituents may contact the Yigo Mayor’s Office to schedule pick-up/delivery of food commodities.
