Results: One New Case of COVID-19
One new case of COVID-19 was identified out of 121 tests performed on Sunday, February 28. 

To date, there have been a total of 7,737 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 131 deaths, 42 cases in active isolation, and 7,564 not in active isolation.

1The COVID Area Risk (CAR) Score will be recalculated once reports from all participating labs are up to date. The CAR Score accounts for the incidence of new cases, how well current testing identifies these cases, and the rate of spread. The ideal long-term goal is to sustain a CAR Score of 2.5 or less, which has been shown to correlate with very low to zero COVID-related hospitalizations and deaths.

^As of February 28, 2021. Total doses administered and allotted doses differ as vaccinators were able to draw additional doses per vial. Additionally, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s February 25, 2021 revision of their Fact Sheet relative to the Pfizer-BioNTech Emergency Use Authorization now states “After dilution, one vial contains 6 doses of 0.3 mL. Vial labels and cartons may state that after dilution, a vial contains 5 doses of 0.3 mL. The information in this Fact Sheet regarding the number of doses per vial after dilution supersedes the number of doses stated on vial labels and cartons.” | ^^Reflects the previous allocation total of 43,500 and last received allocation of 7,800 on February 7, 2021

 

COVID-19 Community Testing in Dededo Friday
The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS), in collaboration with the Mayors’ Council of Guam, Guam National Guard, Guam Department of Education, Guam Police Department, Guam Fire Department, and other GovGuam and federal agencies, continues COVID-19 community testing on Friday, March 5 at the Astumbo Gym in Dededo from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

DPHSS will offer up to 200 COVID-19 tests on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents are reminded that this event is only a COVID-19 community testing. NO VACCINATIONS will be offered at this location.

For the safety of the community and the nurses, only four (4) people per vehicle are allowed to be tested. No symptoms are needed to qualify for testing. Please bring a picture ID.


DPHSS Issues Guidance Memo 2021-08
DPHSS issued Guidance Memo 2021-08, relative to requiring organized, non-contact sports for training and competition to implement mitigation measures to reduce the risk of transmitting the virus that causes COVID-19 from person-to-person spread and touching contact surfaces, during during Pandemic Condition of Readiness 3 (PCOR 3), and in accordance with Executive Order No. 2021-04


EFFECTIVE 8 A.M., MARCH 1, 2021: the following non-contact sports are approved for training and competition:

  1. Baseball 
  2. Board sports (bodyboarding, longboarding, skateboarding, surfing); 
  3. Bowling
  4. Cricket
  5. Croquet
  6. Cross country (limited to middle and high school)
  7. Cue sports (carom billiards, pool, snooker); 
  8. Cycle sports (BMX, mountain bicycling, road bicycling); 
  9. Dancing (solo, group non-contact maintain 6 feet social distancing);
  10. Darts; 
  11. Golf
  12. Gymnastics; 
  13. Motorsports (ATVs, drifting, motorcycles, track racing); 
  14. Paddling sports (kayaking, stand up paddling) limited to one person; 
  15. Racket sports (badminton, table tennis, tennis); 
  16. Shooting sports (archery, practical shooting); 
  17. Softball; 
  18. Strength sports (bodybuilding, powerlifting, strongman, weightlifting); 
  19. Track and field; 
  20. Volleyball; 
  21. Water sports (diving, fishing, swimming); 
  22. Any other sport identified as non-contact by the Department of Public Health and Social Services 
 

DPHSS defines “Non-Contact Sporting Events and Activities” as sports that can be conducted while substantially maintaining appropriate social distancing, and any direct contact amongst participants are incidental to the activity.

All sports organizations and leagues must submit a COVID-19 written mitigation plan to DPHSS via email at PCOR3plans@dphss.guam.gov before the start of the event/activity. Written mitigation plans should include the following provisions, in accordance with Guidance Memo 2021-08: use of face masks; physical distancing; health and hygiene; health and safety of athletes, coaches, officials and spectators; and cleaning and disinfection.
