DPHSS Offers COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Appointments Online through Eventbrite

Results: Four New Cases of COVID-19

Four (4) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 420 tests performed Wednesday, January 27. One (1) case reported recent travel history and was identified in quarantine. 

To date, there have been a total of 7,572 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 129 deaths, 90 cases in active isolation and 7,353 not in active isolation.

1The COVID Area Risk (CAR) Score accounts for the incidence of new cases, how well current testing identifies these cases, and the rate of spread. The ideal long-term goal is to sustain a CAR Score of 2.5 or less, which has been shown to correlate with very low to zero COVID-related hospitalizations and deaths.

Governor Leon Guerrero Signs Executive Order No. 2021-03

Today, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero signed Executive Order No. 2021-03 relative to extending the public health emergency declaration for an additional thirty (30) day period to March 1, 2021, and orders such that:

• EFFECTIVE AT 8:00AM MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2021, A “congregation” or a “social gathering” is a meeting for a common and singular purpose of more than one (1) person where individuals are not members of a single household. Effective at 8:00AM on February 1, 2021, social gatherings and congregations shall be limited to no more than twenty-five (25) persons. The terms “social gathering” and “congregation” are not intended to include meetings of businesses, organizations, or government agencies held for the purpose of carrying out official business of such entities;

• EFFECTIVE AT 8:00AM MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2021, Category 2 of the COVID-19 Response Differential Pay plan established in  Executive Order No. 2020-08 shall expire. Government of Guam employees not otherwise eligible for Category 1 shall be compensated at their regular rate of pay. Effective February 1, 2021, the differential for employees eligible under Category 1 shall be reduced to ten percent (10%). 

The community is reminded that pursuant to 26 GAR Chapter 4 Article 28, fines may be imposed for violations of various mandates in applicable DPHSS Guidance Memoranda. DPHSS Offers COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Appointments Online through Eventbrite

The Department of Public Health and Social Services, in partnership with the Office of the Governor, Guam Department of Education (GDOE), Mayors’ Council of Guam (MCOG), Department of Public Works (DPW), Guam Department of Labor (GDOL), Guam Fire Department (GFD), Guam Police Department (GPD), Guam National Guard (GUNG), University of Guam (UOG) School of Nursing and Health Sciences, and the Serve Guam Commission which oversees the AmeriCorps Guam Program, continues its COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

DPHSS is now accepting appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations at both Okkodo High School (OHS) and the Southern Region Community Health Center (SRCHC) for individuals who fall in any of the Phase 1a, 1b, or 1c categories. 

A total of 75 appointment slots and 25 walk-ins will be available per hour daily at OHS, and 35 appointment slots and 5 walks will be available per hour daily at SRCHC. Although walk-ins will be accepted, priority will be given to scheduled appointments. Patients must bring a digital or hard copy appointment confirmation and a photo ID. Those due for their second dose are reminded to bring their COVID-19 immunization card.

COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic January 29 & 30 at UOG Fieldhouse 

The Guam National Guard (GUNG), in partnership with DPHSS and the UOG, continues daily COVID-19 vaccination clinics through Saturday, January 30 at the UOG Fieldhouse from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. These clinics are open to the public for Phase 1c (individuals 60 years and older) in need of their first or second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Residents are advised to schedule an appointment online via Eventbrite. Click here to schedule. 

A total of 85 appointment slots will be available per hour daily through Saturday. Please show your appointment ticket on your electronic device or print-out at check-in. Bring a photo ID. Those due for their second dose are reminded to bring their COVID-19 immunization card. This ensures quicker processing and proper documentation.

Pre-screening Eligibility for COVID-19 Vaccinations

To take the COVID-19 vaccine, you must meet the following pre-screening eligibility criteria*:

• Must not be currently infected with COVID-19 or previously exposed within the last 14 days

• Must not have received any other vaccine, such as the flu shot, in the last 14 days

*Please note: If this is your first time receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, please make sure you have never taken other COVID-19 vaccine products. Please visit dphss.guam.gov to view the pre-screening eligibility.

V-Safe Vaccine Symptom Monitoring 

Individuals who have received the COVID-19 vaccine are encouraged to register for the tool called v-safe, offered by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). V-safe is a smartphone-based tool that uses text messaging and web surveys to provide personalized health check-ins after you receive a COVID-19 vaccination. Through v-safe, you can quickly tell CDC if you have any side effects after getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Depending on your answers, someone from CDC may call to check on you. V-safe will remind you to get your second COVID-19 vaccine dose if you need one. Sign up for v-safe with your smartphone’s browser athttps://vsafe.cdc.gov.

Drive-Thru Community Testing Continues January 29 in Tiyan, Barrigada

The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS), in collaboration with the Mayors’ Council of Guam, Guam National Guard, Department of Public Works, Guam Police Department, Guam Fire Department, University of Guam (UOG) School of Nursing and Health Sciences, and other GovGuam and federal agencies, continues COVID-19 community testing on Friday, January 29 at the Old Carnival Grounds in Tiyan, Barrigada from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

DPHSS will offer up to 300 COVID-19 tests are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents are reminded that this event is only a COVID-19 community testing. NO VACCINATIONS will be offered at this location.

For the safety of the community and the nurses, only four (4) people per vehicle are allowed to be tested. No symptoms are needed to qualify for testing. Please bring a picture ID.

The Northern Region Community Health Center (NRCHC) will remain open for COVID-19 testing by appointment only and can be contacted by calling 635-7525/6.

GBHWC Crisis Hotline

The Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center (GBHWC) has a Crisis Hotline available 24/7 at (671) 647-8833/4. For those feeling anxious, stressed, overwhelmed or are needing to talk to someone, GBHWC has experienced providers available and ready to assist the community with any heightened stress and anxiety experienced as a result of COVID-19.
