Results: 15 Cases of COVID-19
Fifteen (15) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 339 tests performed on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Ten (10) cases were identified through contact tracing.

To date, there have been a total of 7,308 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 121 deaths, 169 cases in active isolation and 7,018 not in active isolation.

The COVID Area Risk (CAR) Score accounts for the incidence of new cases, how well current testing identifies these cases, and the rate of spread. The ideal long-term goal is to sustain a CAR Score of 2.5 or less, which has been shown to correlate with very low to zero COVID-related hospitalizations and deaths.

Vaccination Clinic Continues: 600 Doses to be Administered December 31

The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS), in partnership with the Office of the Governor, Mayors’ Council of Guam (MCOG), Guam Department of Labor (GDOL), Guam Fire Department (GFD), Guam Police Department (GPD), University of Guam (UOG) School of Nursing and Health Sciences, and the Serve Guam Commission - Americorps Guam Program, will continue its COVID-19 vaccination clinic for part of Phase 1b on Thursday, December 31 at Okkodo High School in Dededo. The school cafeteria and gymnasium has been set up as a temporary vaccination clinic.

The DPHSS COVID-19 vaccination clinic will open at 9 a.m and will be provided to the first 600 individuals. A government-issued ID is required and participants will be asked to present a list of their current doctor-prescribed medication.

Pre-screening Eligibility for Vaccinations

In order to take the COVID-19 vaccine, you must meet the following pre-screening eligibility criteria:

Must not be currently infected with COVID-19, or previously infected within the last 14 days
Must never have taken other COVID-19 vaccine products
Must not have received any other vaccine, such as the flu shot, in the last 14 days

A pre-screening eligibility handout is attached.

Only one escort per individual is allowed. If there are multiple eligible individuals who wish to be vaccinated, additional escorts are allowed to accompany these individuals.

Additionally, health care workers who qualify under Phase 1a who were unable to receive their vaccine may go to the vaccination clinic between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 31 at Okkodo High School. Health care workers are encouraged to present their professional license or work ID.

Tips for those Participating in the Vaccination Clinic

DPHSS will be providing water and light snacks to those waiting in line. However, in anticipation of possible long wait times, here are some tips for patients and their escorts:

DPHSS encourages patients to bring their own assistive devices (i.e. wheelchairs, scooters, walkers)
Bring a jacket or sweater as the post-observation room can get cold
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes

Wildfire

Regularly clean the roof and gutters.
Maintain an area approximately 30’ away from you home that is free of anything that will burn, such as wood piles, dried leaves, newspapers and other brush.
Connect garden hoses long enough to reach any area of the home and fill garbage cans, tubs, or other large containers with water.
Review your homeowner's insurance policy and also prepare/update a list of your home's contents.

Fire Weather

Turn on your TV/radio. You’ll get the latest weather updates and emergency instructions.
Know where to go. If you are ordered to evacuate, know the route to take and have plan of where you will go. Check-in with your friends and family.
Keep your car fueled, in good condition, and stocked with emergency supplies and a change of clothes.

Drought

Conserve water

Take shorter showers.

Turn off the water while brushing your teeth or shaving.
Run the washer less frequently and only when you have a full load.
Water your lawn less frequently and do so when the temperature is cooler in the early morning or late evening.
When you run the tap to heat or cool water, keep a pitcher to store the water and use it to water plants.
Avoid washing your car.

Practice fire prevention

Don't set off fireworks when conditions are dry.
Deposit cigarette butts in the proper receptacle to avoid starting a
Pour water over camp fires and backyard fire pits to ensure they are completely out before leaving them unattended.

Follow directions from local officials. If there are restrictions on water usage, be sure to heed them.
