Results: 18 Test Positive for COVID-19

To date, there have been a total of 6,977 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 113 deaths, 808 cases in active isolation and 6,056 not in active isolation. 

 

As of December 5, 2020, the COVID Area Risk (CAR) Score is 2.0 and will be recalculated once reports from all participating labs are up to date. The CAR Score accounts for the incidence of new cases, how well current testing identifies these cases, and the rate of spread. An ideal CAR Score for Guam would be 5.0 and below. Five Test Positive for COVID-19 at DOC

Retesting efforts at the Department of Corrections (DOC) confirmed five (5) additional cases of COVID-19 among the prisoner population. DOC was notified of the new cases on Friday, December 4, 2020. A total of 14 prisoners and four (4) officers were retested due to possible exposure with an officer who recently tested positive for the virus. All newly confirmed cases remain in isolation. To date, there have been 171 confirmed cases within DOC, 155 of whom have recovered. 

 

Food Commodities Distribution Through Village Mayors Continues

The Guam Department of Education (GDOE), State Agency for the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Nutrition Service (FNS), continues the distribution of food commodities through each mayor at the village level.  Village distribution will be conducted via drive-through or door-to-door delivery. Recipients will receive one bag of TEFAP food commodities per household that may include elbow macaroni, split peas, tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce, canned pears, mixed fruit, canned beef, canned pork or canned chicken, instant milk, kidney beans, oat circle cereal, banana chips, and only village drive-through distributions will receive frozen orange juice.  

 

Food commodities will be distributed on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last. Commodity distribution in each village will be available to village constituents only and residents should call their respective mayor’s office for more information. Participants are reminded to wear a mask, maintain physical distancing, and follow all traffic directions and signage.

If there are remaining bags from the drive-through, door-to-door, delivery will begin on Friday, Dec. 11. Automatic Extension for Guam Driver’s Licenses, Guam IDs, and Guam Driver’s Permits

The Guam Motor Vehicle Division has issued an automatic extension of all Guam Driver’s Licenses, Guam IDs, and Guam Driver's Permits that expired because of the Government of Guam closure due to COVID-19. These extensions ONLY apply to Guam Driver’s Licenses, Guam ID Cards, Guam Driver's Permits (to include Learner’s Permits, Instructional Permits, Motorcycle Permits, and Tractor Trailer/Bus Permits)

GPD Firearms ID Customer Service Update

The Guam Police Department (GPD) Records & Identification (ID) Section is now accepting appointments for new firearms ID applications. Walk-in service for applications will not be accepted at this time.

 

Requests for appointments for new firearms IDs can be made by calling 475-8500/06, or via email at records@gpd.guam.gov. Please leave your full name and contact number, as personnel will contact you via telephone and may request additional information and schedule your appointment with further instructions. New firearms ID applicants must visit gpd.guam.gov/applications-and-reports/ to download a copy of the application, and ensure compliance with new application requirements.

 

As a reminder, all applicants entering GPD’s Records and ID Section will be required to wear a proper face covering (mask) and have their temperature checked. Applicants will have to sanitize their hands and adhere to the recommended CDC Social Distancing Guidelines.
