JIC Release No. 42 - DANGEROUS WINDS STILL OCCURRING - REMAIN INDOORS

Typhoon Mangkhut has passed north of Rota and is now located 14.1 degrees north latitude and 144.2 degrees east latitude, about 70 miles west of Rota and 60 miles northwest of Guam, with maximum sustained winds of 115 mph.

Although Mangkhut is tracking away from the Marianas, damaging winds of 39 mph or more are still expected to occur until early Tuesday morning.

A typhoon warning remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, Saipan, and adjacent coastal waters in the Marianas, meaning typhoon conditions, including destructive winds of 74 mph or more, are possible or occurring at all locations.

The community is reminded to remain indoors as damaging winds through the evening into the early morning can still cause damage to life and property.
