JIC RELEASE NO. 405 - Cumulative Results: 130 Test Positive for COVID-19; Profiles of Confirmed Cases;Two GDOE Workers Test Positive For COVID-19

Cumulative Results
To date, there have been a total of 3,886 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 67 deaths, 1,466 cases in active isolation and 2,354 not in active isolation. Of those cases, 3,601 are classified as civilians and 285 are military service members. 

Of the 130 new cases, 22 were identified through contact tracing. Five cases reported recent travel: three from the United States and two from the Philippines and were identified in quarantine. 

Results include yesterday’s Rapid Engagement Team outreach in Yigo. Of the 131 samples collected, 36 were positive for COVID-19.

As of October 20, there have been 67 COVID-19-related fatalities. Though one recently confirmed case of COVID-19 was identified and reported deceased by the Joint Information Center today, it will not be officially included in the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) COVID-19 Situation Report until tomorrow, October 21.

Two GDOE Workers Test Positive For COVID-19
On Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) confirmed that two GDOE employees tested positive for COVID-19. One case was identified at Jose Rios Middle School and another at Ordot Chalan Pago Elementary School. Both cases were identified through contact tracing efforts. The GDOE is working closely with DPHSS to conduct contact tracing and any close contacts of the confirmed cases will be contacted directly by DPHSS.

Areas of both campuses have been cleaned and disinfected as needed. Hard copy packet and food distribution will continue uninterrupted.
