JIC RELEASE NO. 386 - Food Commodities Distribution Schedule; Guam Police Department Customer Service Updates;One GDOE Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

The Guam Department of Education (GDOE), State Agency for the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Nutrition Service (FNS) is continuing the distribution of food commodities for the month of October in partnership with the local mayors and community organizations.

Recipients will receive one bag of TEFAP food commodities per household to include egg noodles, elbow macaroni, cereal, instant milk, canned pears, peaches, beef stew, lentils, green split peas, yellow split peas, long grain rice, tomato sauce, orange juice, canned pork, banana chips and dried mangoes and additional commodities as they arrive.

The distribution method used by village mayors will include a drive-through or door-to-door delivery to provide easier access to food commodities for residents while also minimizing traffic-related issues. Food commodities will be distributed on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last. Commodity distribution in each village will be available to village constituents only. Participants are reminded to wear a mask, maintain physical distancing, and follow all traffic directions and signage. The schedule is as follows:

The Yigo Mayor kindly asks that individuals carpooling obtain a Mayor’s Verification prior to the distribution date in order to verify that individuals are residing in a separate household.  In an effort to provide an opportunity for all constituents to pick-up food commodities, the Mayor sends a friendly reminder that individuals may pick-up once for their household.

If there are remaining bags from the drive-through distribution, the Yigo Mayor’s Office will deliver door-to-door, beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020. Those who did not receive a bag for various reasons (i.e. no transportation, elderly persons, etc.) will be prioritized. Constituents may contact the Yigo Mayor’s Office to schedule pick-up/delivery of food commodities.

Guam Police Department Customer Service Update
On Monday, October 12, 2020, the Guam Police Department (GPD) will begin to provide the following limited services by appointment only:

RECORDS AND IDENTIFICATION SECTION (RIDS) – ITC Building, Tamuning 

Available Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for:

  • Police Clearances;
  • Crash Reports;
  • Criminal and Non-Criminal Abstract Reports
 

Available Monday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for:

  • Firearms ID renewal and;
  • Approved Firearms ID applications that have been approved. These are firearms ID applications that were submitted, reviewed and cleared by RIDS personnel prior to the declaration of the public health emergency.
 

First-time firearms ID applicants WILL NOT be processed at this time.

RIDS service requests must be made via email at records@gpd.guam.gov, or by telephone at 475-8500 or 475-8506. Walk-in service without an appointment is not available at this time.


RECREATIONAL BOATING SAFETY OFFICE – Former Hakubotan Building, Tamuning

Available Monday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for:

  • Personal watercraft and/or vessels registration renewal

 

Recreational Boating Safety Office service requests must be made via email at guamboating@gpd.guam.gov, or by telephone at 475-8448 or 475-8449. Walk-in service without an appointment is not available at this time.

 
ARMORY SECTION – Former Hakubotan Building, Tamuning

Available Monday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

GPD Armory Section service requests must be made via email at guns@gpd.guam.gov, or by telephone at 475-8618. Walk-in service without an appointment is not available at this time.

Customers are reminded to provide full names, contact numbers and the type of GPD services being requested. A GPD representative will contact customers via telephone, and may request additional information before scheduling an appointment.

All customers entering GPD's facilities for service appointments must wear a proper face covering (mask) and submit to a temperature check. Customers will also be asked to sanitize their hands and to adhere to the recommended CDC Social Distancing Guidelines.


One GDOE Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19
On October 8, 2020, the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) confirmed that one additional GDOE employee tested positive for COVID-19 at Jose Rios Middle School (JRMS). This case was identified through contact tracing efforts. The GDOE is working closely with DPHSS to conduct contact tracing and any close contacts of the confirmed case will be contacted directly by DPHSS. JRMS will remain open and areas of the campus will be identified for cleaning and disinfecting as needed. Employees will not have access to these areas until cleaning has been completed.
