JIC RELEASE NO. 231 - Cumulative Results: Four Test Positive for COVID-19; Profiles of Confirmed Cases;DPHSS Issues Guidance Memo 2020-29; Expanded COVID-19 Testing Continues

COVID-19 test results are reported from multiple labs at varying times of the day. The Joint Information Center will report cumulative COVID-19 test results once a day, unless unavailable. 

The Guam Public Health Laboratory (GPHL) will be closed on Tuesday, July 21, in observance of Liberation Day. There will be no tests run on Tuesday. The GPHL will reopen on Wednesday, July 22. Physicians are reminded to follow storage requirements by ensuring specimens are refrigerated at 2-8°C.

Four cases tested positive from the Department of Defense (DoD). Two reported recent travel from the continental US and were identified in quarantine.

To date, there have been a total of 319 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 5 deaths, 235 released from isolation, and 79 active cases. Of those cases, 270 are classified as civilians and 49 are military service members.

DPHSS Issues Guidance Memo 2020-29
The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) issued Guidance Memo 2020-29 relative to businesses and organizations authorized to operate during Pandemic Condition of Readiness (PCOR) 3. Guidance Memo 2020-29 outlines the minimum requirements for the opening of all businesses, with the exception of senior centers and organized sports leagues, tournaments, and events, during PCOR 3. 

Expanded COVID-19 Testing Continues
DPHSS, in collaboration with the Government of Guam, the Mayors Council of Guam, private, and federal agencies, continues expanded COVID-19 testing. 

Testing is free and open to the public while supplies last. No symptoms are needed to qualify for testing. If your village is not listed, please proceed to a neighboring village for testing. Please bring an ID, if one is available. The expanded testing schedule is as follows:

COVID-19 Drive-Through/Walk-In Testing:

  • Wednesday, July 22, 2020, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Tamuning Elementary School 

  • Thursday, July 23, 2020, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Asan-Maina Mayor’s Office

The DPHSS Central Public Health Clinic located in Barrigada Heights has relocated its operations to the Northern Region Community Health Center (CHC) in Dededo effective today. The Northern and Southern CHCs operate Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
