JIC Recovery Release No. 9 - Traffic Control to Resume; Urge Caution on the Roadways

The Guam Police Department (GPD) and the Guam National Guard (GUNG) will begin traffic control at four way intersections with non-functional traffic lights at 6 a.m. this morning and will end traffic control operations at 6 p.m. this evening.

To ensure safe passage on the roadways after Typhoon Mangkhut, GPD and GUNG were designated to man various intersections across the island, and to direct traffic in a safe and orderly fashion.

Please practice courtesy for safety officials and follow these important tips:

•    Comply with all commands given by officials.

•    Reduce speed and proceed with caution

•   Do not use your cellphones.

•    Allow enough braking distance between vehicles

•    Observe your surroundings at all times

•    Watch for debris on the side of the roadways – DPW have cleared major routes but staged debris may still be on the roads

For more information, contact the Guam Homeland Security / Office of Civil Defense 24/7 watch desk at (671) 475-9600 or (671) 482-7019.
