JIC Recovery Release No. 1 - TYPHOON MANGKHUT RECOVERY: Typhoon warning cancelled; Guam still in COR1

At 6 a.m., the National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam has cancelled the Typhoon Warning for Guam, Rota, Saipan and Tinian.
 
Although the typhoon warning is cancelled , Guam is still in Condition of Readiness (COR)1. Island residents are urged to remain at home or in their shelters until the all-clear is given. The Guam Power Authority, Department of Public Works, Guam Police Department, Mayors Council of Guam, and Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense are now doing preliminary damage assessments for debris, vegetation, downed power lines and power poles, and other concerns to begin clearing major roadways.  
 
The latest update from NWS places Typhoon Mangkhut about 160 west-north-west of Guam. Typhoon Mangkhut is moving toward the west at 20 mph. It is expected to make a slight turn to the west-northwest with a decrease in forward speed over the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are at 125 mph. Typhoon Mangkhut is forecast to intensify through Wednesday. Damaging winds are no longer expected, but NWS states gusty winds will continue and could reach up to 35 mph at times through the morning. Winds will continue to subside through the day.
