The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a high wind warning, Gale Warning, and Hazardous Seas Warning in effect for Guam until 600am Tuesday. Winds are expected to between 25 to 40mph with gusts up to 55mph.
Damaging winds will blow down tarps and canopies. Some localized power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
There is a chance for a Wind Advisory to be issued after conditions fall below Warning levels Tuesday, if conditions warrant. Higher elevations of Saipan and southern Guam will continue to see the most intense winds through tonight.
Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
The offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense remind residents:
To avoid being outside during these winds. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the winds, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.
Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for severe conditions.
