High Surf Warning in Effect; Coastal Flood Advisory until 6pm Wednesday

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a high surf warning and coastal flood advisory, in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, until 6pm Wednesday.

For the High Surf Warning, dangerously large breaking waves of 12 to 17 feet in the surf zone. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor coastal flooding.

Breaking waves can sweep people off jetties and docks, and into dangerous seas. Life-threatening swimming conditions and significant beach erosion can be expected. Increased wave run up, especially around times of high tides, will reach beyond normal high tide marks.

Large surf will be because of Tropical Depression 14W which is currently forecasted to become a tropical storm tonight passing over or near Guam by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center
