Heavy Showers Moving Over Guam; Practice Caution on the Roads

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a short term forecast for Guam.

Through 7:30 p.m., heavy showers and thunderstorms will move northward over Guam and nearby waters. Expect visibility down to a quarter mile, occasional lightning and up to an inch of rain. Wind gusts of 20 to 25 mph are also possible.

If driving, be alert for reduced visibilities and ponding of water on roadways. For boaters, if thunder is heard or lightning is seen, get below deck and avoid touching any metal parts.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) advise the community to practice extreme caution while traveling in rainy conditions, driving below the speed limit and allowing enough braking distance between vehicles.
