GPA will restore power to every customer able to receive power. No customer will be left behind.

As GPA’s systematic power restoration continues, GPA humbly seeks the indulgence of all customers and residents for their patience and cooperation as GPA forges on in full power restoration island wide.“At this stage, the danger level for all working crews increases, “stated GPA General Manager John M.Benavente. “The job of the GPA lineman is very dangerous,” added Benavente. “Electricity is unforgiving and the outcome is typically fatal when there is an accident,” he concluded.

GPA crews continued working systematically today, to restore power to the final two GPA distribution power lines serving Southern Guam, expected to be energized later tonight or tomorrow. Crews were forging paths for full restoration from Agat-Umatac-Merizo on the southwest side of the island; while simultaneously working from Talofofo through Malojloj and Inarajan to Merizo on the southeast side of the island to loop all of southern Guam.

Concurrently, the GPA crews continued working full force in the north and central sectors with the focus to make all repairs in the more challenging village and neighborhood areas ravaged by Typhoon Mangkhut to achieve full restoration to customers and the island wide power system.

With primary lines and circuits energized, GPA is concerned for the safety of all crews and the public and reminds that it is likely that customers may experience situations including:


  1. sparking on power lines
  2. fallen lines
  3. blown fuses
  4. transformer issues
  5. broken cross-arms
  6. damaged insulators
  7. other power line and pole top issues affecting their service

Furthermore, as Guam’s island wide power system is energized and becomes more stabilized, it is possible that some customers who are energized may experience:
  1. low voltage power
  2. power fluctuations
  3. interruptions of service despite being previously energized
In such situations, customers should immediately call GPA's 24-Hour Trouble Dispatch at 475- 1472/3/4 to report all emergency and safety issues.

Finally, GPA reminds the public that fallen or downed power lines should be considered energizedor “LIVE.” Residents should not attempt to make contact with the downed lines in order to avoid severe injury or death.
