Flash Flood Warning in Effect until 715pm

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a flash flood warning, in effect for the entire island Guam until 715pm caused by heavy rain.

At 410 PM ChST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain falling across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Reports of impassable roads at Polaris Point, and localized sections of Route 1 in Tamuning and Route 4 near Talafofo.

The offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense remind residents:

  • Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
  • In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
  • Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
