The U.S. Geological Survey recorded an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.9 that struck 221 km SW of Merizo Village, Guam, with a depth of 47.4 km, at 3:36 p.m. (ChST). 

There is no tsunami threat to the Marianas from the earthquake. 

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) remind the community that when an earthquake strikes, conduct the earthquake procedure, “Drop, Cover and Hold On” until the shaking stops.
