8:45 p.m. Tropical Depression 32W Forms Well South-Southwest of Guam; Hazardous Surf and Seas Remain

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office is monitoring Tropical Depression 32W, formerly Invest 90W, located near 9.5N 142.7E, about 310 miles south-southwest of Guam, moving west at 10 mph with maximum sustained winds of 30 mph. It is expected to maintain this general course with a decrease in forward speed through Wednesday, taking TD 32W close to Ulithi and Fais in Yap State.


Expected Conditions
  • Winds: Gusty easterly winds shifting southeast by Wednesday night, with sustained winds of 20–30 mph and gusts up to 40 mph.
  • Rainfall: Heavy rain could bring 4–8 inches through Friday, increasing the risk of flooding and mudslides.
  • Advisories in Effect:
    • Flood Watch for Guam and Rota through Friday afternoon.
    • High Surf Advisory for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan (9–11 ft surf).
    • High Risk of Rip Currents through Friday afternoon.
    • Small Craft Advisory for Guam and Rota coastal waters (winds 20–30 kt; seas 10–12 ft).


Preparedness Actions

Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautionary measures:
  • Clear drainage areas and unblock storm drains to minimize flooding;
  • Stay up to date with the latest weather information;
  • When driving in heavy rain, be alert for low visibilities and slippery roads, slow down where water is ponding on the road;
  • Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Avoid walking or driving through flood waters;
  • Do not camp, park, or hike along streams and rivers. These areas can flood quickly and with little warning;
  • Be alert for possible landslides in areas of steep terrain. Report any signs of potential landslides to local authorities immediately;
  • Stay out of the water due to dangerous surf and rip currents.
