NWS Issues Short Term Forecast and Thunderstorm Advisory

The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office Guam has issued a short term forecast, in effect for Guam. NWS advises radar shows a band of showers moving over Guam. These showers will persist for a few hours. Through 6:30 a.m., scattered showers will bring up to a half inch of rain to areas of Guam. Wind gusts to 25 mph are expected with some showers.

A thunderstorm advisory is in effect for the Guam International Airport Authority until 10 a.m. this morning. Thunderstorms are possible within 20 nautical miles of the airport. Southeast winds of 29 mph are also expected in heavier showers.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense remind the community to practice caution while traveling on the roadways this morning, allowing enough braking distance between cars. While driving, be alert for low visibilities in very heavy rain, and watch for local flooding of roads.
