High Surf Advisory in Effect for the Marianas; Inexperienced Swimmers Should Remain Out of the Water

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office maintains a high surf advisory in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Tuesday afternoon. Increasing westerly monsoon swell will cause surf to continue building along west facing reefs. Hazardous surf is expected at Saipan and Tinian this morning, then at Guam and Rota this afternoon or evening.

 
   

JIC Release NO. 732 - One of 363 Tests Positive for COVID-19; UPDATED: COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Schedule; Food Commodities Distribution Continues

One (1) new case of COVID-19 was identified out of 363 tests performed on July 22. To date, there have been a total of 8,501 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 143 deaths, 47 cases in active isolation, and 8,311 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 0.1. 
   

JIC Release NO. 731 - Fourteen of 707 Test Positive for COVID-19; UPDATED: COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Schedule

Fourteen (14) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 707 tests performed July 20 – 21. Twelve (12) cases were identified through contact tracing. To date, there have been a total of 8,500 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 143 deaths, 59 cases in active isolation, and 8,298 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 0.1. 
   

Flash Flood Warning in Effect; Practice Caution in Heavy Rain

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office has issued a flash flood warning for Guam, in effect until noon. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Thunderstorms are producing heavy rain across the area. Between 0.4 and 1 inch of rain has already fallen. The expected rainfall rate is around 1.5 inch per 1 hour.
