Guam and the respective military bases remain in Condition of Readiness (COR) 1 and Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness (TCCOR) 1 as of 12 p.m., July 5, 2026.
What to Expect:
As of 7 a.m., Super Typhoon Bavi was located at 14.2N 145.5E, 70 miles northeast of Guam. It is moving west-northwest at 9 mph with maximum sustained winds of 180 mph. Based on the current forecast track, the eye of Bavi is expected to pass directly over Rota throughout the next several hours.
Remain indoors. Guam can expect:

Rain: Rainfall amounts between 8 and 12 inches are possible during Bavi’s passage, resulting in flash flooding through early Tuesday morning. A flood watch remains in effect; intense showers and thunderstorms could produce flooding across the island.

Wind: Sustained winds of 50 to 80 mph with gusts up to 100 mph will continue through late this morning.

Closest Point of Approach (CPA): CPA to Guam is expected today around mid-morning. The worst conditions are ongoing and expected through 12 p.m. today.

Stay Out of the Water: Life-Threatening sea conditions are expected to last until Thursday.
GWA Update
The Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA) reports that 97 wells are online as of 12 a.m. GWA will not shut the water distribution system off during the storm. 59 of the 97 wells online are operating on generator power. The Guam Power Authority (GPA) along with GWA electrical crews began activating generators at GWA facilities after 2 p.m on July 5. GPA and GWA continue working together to manage and operate standby generators at GWA facilities.
Shortly before midnight on July 5, the Ugum Surface Water Treatment Plant was secured due to high turbidity levels as a result of flash flooding.
There are no reports of active water outages at this time. Customers are reminded that outages and instances of low to no pressure may occur as system adjustments may be performed at wells, pump stations, and reservoirs to respond to power loss, fluctuations, refueling, or servicing generators.
The Northern District Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is online on generator power and fully treating all flows received, however, the Route 3 pump station is not fully operational and is resulting in reduced flow from this station. The Hagåtña, Agat-Santa Rita and Umatac-Merizo WWTPs are online on generator power.
GWA Dispatch operators have received two reports of possible sewer overflows in Malesso’ and Yigo. GWA crews have been notified and will respond when conditions are safe to do so. Customers are reminded that inflow and infiltration (I&I) caused by Bavi’s heavy rainfall will impact the wastewater collection operations and lead to potential backups and overflows.

GPA Update as of July 5 at 11:45 p.m.
Guam Power Authority (GPA) crews secured from aerial (bucket truck lift) and ground work due to dangerous wind and strong gusts from Super Typhoon Bavi.
Power outages throughout the island have occurred as a result of storm conditions. Safety remains the top priority and the crews are prepared to immediately begin key assessments and restoration efforts as soon as winds decrease to safe levels.
During extreme weather conditions, Trouble Dispatchers will receive calls for emergency power situations such as down energized (sparking) lines, damaged poles or blown transformers. Please stay away from all down lines and equipment as they may still be energized and can cause harm if you come in contact with the lines or equipment. Consider such situations as dangerous and life-threatening.
