Conditions Continue to Deteriorate as Super Typhoon Bavi Nears Marianas;
Guam in COR 1; Remain Indoors
Guam and the respective military bases remain in Condition of Readiness (COR) 1 and Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness (TCCOR) 1 as of 12 p.m., July 5, 2026.
What to Expect:
As of 5 a.m., Super Typhoon Bavi was located at 13.7N 146.5E, 115 miles east of Guam. It is moving west at 10 mph with maximum sustained winds of 180 mph. On its current track, Bavi is most likely expected to pass directly over Rota around 8 a.m. this morning, Monday, July 6, 2026.
Typhoon force winds of 74 mph or more extend outward from the center up to 60 miles. Tropical storm force winds of 39 mph or more extend outward from the center up to 230 miles to the north and up to 185 miles to the south of the system.
Remain indoors. Based on the current forecast track with the system expected to pass directly over Rota, Guam can expect:

Rain: Rainfall amounts between 12 and 20 inches are possible during Bavi’s passage, resulting in flash flooding through early Tuesday morning. Flood watch remains in effect through late Tuesday night. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Wind: Sustained winds of 50 to 80 mph with gusts up to 100 mph will continue through late this afternoon.

Closest Point of Approach (CPA): CPA to Guam is expected today around mid-morning. The worst conditions are expected between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. today.

Stay Out of the Water: Life-Threatening sea conditions are expected to last until Thursday.
