CLOSURE OF TYPHOON DEBRIS SITES; SHELTER OPENS IN DEDEDO; WATER RESTORATION UPDATES
Closure of Typhoon Debris Sites: Next Thursday July 23
The Government of Guam advises residents that the typhoon debris disposal sites at Ypao Point in Tamuning and Tiyan will officially close on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the remaining days of operation to properly dispose of eligible debris generated by Super Typhoon Bavi.
The Ypao Point site accepts green waste and construction debris. Green waste includes trees, branches, trunks, shrubs, yard trimmings, grass clippings, and leaves. Accepted construction debris includes lumber, plywood, gypsum board, glass, steel, corrugated tin, and roofing materials. The Tiyan site accepts green waste only.
Both sites are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with entry lines closing at 4:30 p.m. Residents should separate debris before arriving and ensure their loads contain only accepted materials. Household garbage, appliances, electronics, hazardous waste, furniture, tires, vehicle parts, and other prohibited items will not be accepted. Proper footwear and appropriate clothing are also strongly recommended while unloading debris
DPHSS Update
The Department of Public Health and Social Services says damage to the Senior Citizen Centers in Tamuning and Dededo has curtailed most operations. Right now both centers are sites for grab and go meals instead of on premises feeding. DPHSS further reports that child care facilities are open.
Tier II Shelter Opens in Astumbo
A second tier Shelter has opened at the Astumbo gym. The transfer of shelterees to Astumbo began this morning. The American Red Cross will manage the shelter, with collaboration from Guam Department of Public Health and Social Services and the support of the Guam Police Department. The first tier II shelter at the Ordot Chalan Paro Community Center gym that opened earlier this week reported an overnight census of 204 adults and children
Water Restoration Updates
Over the last two days, the Guam Waterworks Authority has successfully restored water service to 1,000 customers. The total number of customers without water has now fallen to just over 400 out of approximately 43,000 GWA accounts. The water authority has had much success with well repairs over the past 48 hours. When wells come back online it helps to stabilize and pressure the entire system, reducing the number of customers experiencing low water pressure. BOIL WATER NOTICES and WATER CONSERVATION MEASURES continue to remain in effect.
