Food Commodity Distribution Schedule
The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) will be conducting food commodity
distributions for those affected by Super Typhoon Bavi. Food assistance is prioritized for households affected
by food loss, including those receiving SNAP, Medicaid, MIP, or those with limited resources. DPHSS will
make every effort to serve those in need.
Scheduled Food Commodity Distribution:
- Tuesday, July 14, 2026
Time: 1 PM- 4 PM (while supplies last)
Location: Governor's Office Breezeway, Adelup
Distribution: Drive-through - Thursday, July 16, 2026
Time: 3 PM- 6 PM (while supplies last)
Location: Yigo Gym, Yigo
Distribution: Drive-through - Saturday, July 18, 2026
Time: 9 AM- 12 PM (while supplies last)
Location: Malojloj Social Hall, Malojloj
Distribution: Drive-through
Individuals may be asked to provide identification and must complete a brief form to confirm household eligibility at the time of distribution. Households experiencing need are encouraged to attend. Supplies are limited and will be distributed while available.
Power Restoration Updates
The Guam Power Authority (GPA) reports the following as, July 14:
- 96% of system load (customer demand) restored
- 100% of distribution feeders/circuits fully or partially energized
- 100% of substations and transmission lines energized
- Generation capacity is 248 megawatts, adequate for the current load of 193 megawatts
GPA crews have begun Phase III of post-typhoon restoration, returning to areas with extensive damage and to customers previously isolated pending additional repairs. This work will continue over the coming days across northern, central, and southern villages. Residents can find GPA's areas of focus for the next one to five days on GPA's website at www.guampowerauthority.com and on GPA's official social media pages. The areas of focus are subject to change as repairs progress.
During restoration, temporary voltage fluctuations may occur, such as flickering or dimming lights or partial power. If you experience these conditions or water coming from your outlets, turn off your main breaker and report the issue to GPA Trouble Dispatch at (671) 475-1472/3/4. Unplug sensitive electronics or use high-quality surge suppressors to protect appliances.
If your weatherhead was damaged: The weatherhead — where the overhead power line connects to your home — is owned by the customer and must be repaired before power can be restored. The account holder or an authorized representative must first visit a GPA Customer Service Center to request a work clearance and GPA Electrical Inspection Report. For information on repair, inspection, and reconnection requirements, contact GPA Customer Service at (671) 647-5787/88/89.
Port Authority of Guam Updates
The Port Authority of Guam is keeping close watch on its gantry cranes while simultaneously pushing out
hundreds of containers of cargo, freight, and goods. Expanded gatehouse operations over the weekend helped
jump-start the process of picking up imports, delivering exports, and returning empty containers and chassis,
helping maintain the continued flow of essential commodities following Super Typhoon Bavi. A recent count
included 340 import containers released, 579 pieces of general cargo, 181 vehicles, and 15 pieces of heavy
equipment.
GPA Bucket Trucks On The Way
Eight GPA bucket trucks previously sent to Saipan to assist the island’s recovery from Super Typhoon Sinlaku
are making their way back to Guam. The vehicles were loaded onto a barge early this morning for the 15-hour
trip to Guam and are expected to arrive at the Port Authority of Guam at 8:00 p.m, today, July 14th.
Their arrival will give a boost to GPA’s Phase III restoration efforts during which crews return to areas hardest hit by Bavi’s winds, including isolated pockets where additional repairs are needed.
National Weather Service
The National Weather Service is tracking a tropical disturbance northwest of Yap that is the subject of a
Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert (TCFA), issued by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. 97W remains
disorganized and has shown no interest in further development since the TCFA was issued Monday afternoon.
We will watch this closely while it remains in the area. At this time, it poses no threat to any islands in the NWS
Guam Area, aside from enhancing the monsoon across the region through the end of the week.
