The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) will be conducting food commodity distributions for those affected by Super Typhoon Bavi. Food assistance is prioritized for households affected by food loss, including those receiving SNAP, Medicaid, MIP, or with limited resources. DPHSS will make every effort to serve those in need.
A drive-through distribution will occur on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m (while supplies last) at the Adelup Breezeway. Individuals may be asked to provide identification and must complete a brief form to confirm household eligibility at the time of distribution. Households experiencing need are encouraged to attend. Supplies are limited and will be distributed while available.
Port Authority of Guam Updates
The Port Authority of Guam will open gatehouse operations on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a lunch closure from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. No Special Service Request (SSR) will be required during these additional operating hours as the Port provides the community additional opportunities to retrieve cargo in support of the continued movement of essential commodities during the recovery.
The Port continues to restore cargo handling capabilities:
- Gantry Crane 6: Returned to operational readiness.
- Gantry Crane 5: Returned to operational service at 7:20 p.m. on July 9.
- Gantry Crane 4: Crews continue maintenance and restoration work, including structural repairs and operational readiness activities.
Cargo Recovery Update
As of 12:00 p.m., since the resumption of gatehouse operations:
- Import containers released: 169
- General cargo released: 241
- Vehicles released: 155
- Heavy equipment released: 4
- Export containers awaiting vessel loading: 55
- Empty containers received awaiting vessel loading: 254
Current National Weather Service Advisories
The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam advises that several weather and marine hazards remain in effect:
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 5:30 p.m. for southeastern and south-central Guam. Doppler radar indicates thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall, with flash flooding ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Between 0.8 and 1.6 inches of rain have already fallen, with an additional 1 to 3 inches possible. Flash flooding may occur in small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Residents should avoid flooded roads and heed the message: Turn Around, Don't Drown.
High Surf Advisory remains in effect until 4:00 a.m. Saturday for north-, south-, and west-facing reefs of Guam. Breaking waves of up to 10 feet and dangerous surf conditions may cause localized beach erosion.
High Rip Current Risk remains in effect through late tonight for north-, south-, and west-facing reefs of Guam. Life-threatening rip currents are expected. Residents and visitors should remain out of the water.
Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 4:00 a.m. Saturday. Seas of 7 to 10 feet will continue to create hazardous conditions for small vessels. Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid boating until conditions improve.
Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring official forecasts and advisories issued by the National Weather Service Guam.
