As of 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2026, GWA reported that 74 wells are currently online, with 71 wells on generator power. The Ugum Surface Water Treatment Plant and all wastewater treatment plants remain operational on generator power, while GWA and GPA continue working to resolve power issues affecting restoration.
Water service has been restored to parts of Agana Heights, Sinajana, Yigo, and Yona. GWA is aware of low-to-no pressure in several areas, including Agana Heights, Barrigada, Chalan Pago-Ordot, Dededo, Mangilao, Maina, Mongmong-Toto-Maite, Nimitz Hill, Sinajana, Santa Rita-Sumai, Talofofo, Yigo, and Yona.
A mandatory boil water notice is in effect for customers who lost water service for 48 hours or more. These customers must boil water for three minutes before using it for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, or food preparation. Customers who lost water service for less than 48 hours may also choose to boil water as a precaution.
Eight water tankers have been deployed to the following locations:
- Santa Teresita Catholic Church, Mangilao
- Chalan Palauan, Dededo
- Ironwood, Machanao
- Barrigada Library
- Chalan La Chance, Yigo
- Mongmong – by the former Manglona Mart
- Yona – open lot adjacent to the carabao statue
- Talofofo Mayor’s Office
Residents should bring their own containers to collect water.

GPA Advisory: Damaged Weatherheads and Electrical Components
GPA is advising customers to inspect their homes and properties for damaged weatherheads and other electrical components, including meter boxes, service entrance conduits and cables, and risers. These components are the customer’s responsibility, and any repairs to damaged equipment must be completed before GPA can connect service.
Steps to follow if you have damaged electrical equipment:
- Visit a GPA Customer Service lobby to request a work clearance and receive a GPA Electrical Inspection Report form.
- Wait for GPA to remove the service line and meter before hiring a licensed master electrician or a licensed electrician to carry out the necessary repairs. A list of licensed professionals is available on the Guam Contractors License Board website at http://clb.guam.gov/index.php/contractors-listing/.
- Have the electrician sign the inspection report with their name and license number, then take the report to the Department of Public Works for approval
- Notify GPA once repairs are complete by contacting GPA Customer Service at (671) 647-5787/88/89, emailing customersfirst@gpagwa.com, or sending a direct message to the GPA Facebook page. GPA will then schedule meter installation and service line reconnection. Customers must present the approved Electrical Inspection report to the GPA crew upon arrival.
Typhoon Debris Disposal Site Opening
The Government of Guam, in coordination with the Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Guam Environmental Protection Agency (GEPA), will open the official typhoon debris removal site at Ypao Point, Tamuning (also known as the old Guam Memorial Hospital site) on Thursday, July 9. Only green waste and construction debris will be accepted. Green waste includes trees, shrubs, branches, trunks, yard trimmings, grass clippings, and leaves. Construction debris includes lumber, plywood, gypsum board, glass, steel, corrugated tin and roofing. The site will be open for residents from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, including weekends, until Saturday, July 25.
The following items will not be accepted at the disposal site:
- Household garbage, including food, batteries, toys and oils
- White goods, including appliances
- Electronics, including solar panels, lithium-ion batteries, power banks, portable power stations
- Hazardous waste, including asbestos-containing materials, cleaning products, paint, pesticides, petroleum products, and solvents
- Furniture, cookware, sinks, and coolers
- Tiles, cement, and tools
- Garden hoses, lawn decorations, plastic and ceramic pots
- Plumbing items, including PVC pipes, toilet bowls, and fiberglass tubs
- BBQ grills, canopy pipes and tarps, metal shelves and lockers
- Gym, lawn, and playground equipment
- Tires, car/vehicle parts, and bicycles
- Biological and medical waste, including spoiled and rotting perishables and animal remains

These bans are in place to protect both the environment and site workers. To keep our community safe and ensure efficient cleanup, please review these essential guidelines for disposing of disaster-related materials. Following proper waste separation rules protects public health and helps our island maximize FEMA reimbursement for disaster recovery efforts.
Entry lines will be closed by 4:30 p.m. to ensure the final vehicle is admitted by 5 p.m., allowing crews time to safely secure the site for the night — an essential measure to protect both the public unloading debris and the personnel assisting them.
Community members are reminded that access to Ypao Point during operational hours is at their own risk. Proper footwear, including closed-toe shoes, and appropriate attire are strongly advised to help prevent injuries while disposing of their debris.
Stay Out of the Water - Conditions are Life-Threatening
Everyone should remain out of the water due to life-threatening conditions. Stay off of jetties, piers, and other waterside infrastructure:
- High-risk of rip currents, which may be life-threatening, is in effect through Friday afternoon.
- Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until 4 p.m. Wednesday. Dangerously large breaking waves up to 16 feet and minor coastal flooding are expected.
- High Surf Warning is in effect until 4 p.m. Thursday of up to 16 ft., and coastal inundation of 1 to 2 ft. can be expected now through late this afternoon, especially along west-facing shores. Even so, surf will remain elevated enough to continue to produce a high risk of rip currents along south, west, and north facing reefs the next few days, while dropping to moderate along north reefs Thursday. Life-threatening swimming conditions can be expected.
