Homeland Security Advisor, Mr. Tim Aguon

Mr. Tim Aguon was appointed as the Homeland Security Advisor on January 7, 2019 and is the Governor’s Special Assistant for Homeland Security. As the Homeland Security Advisor, he is overall responsible for the Government of Guam’s Office of Homeland Security. His primary duties and responsibilities include all activities related to the protection of Guam and its people from terrorism, invasion, insurrection, rebellion, lawless violence, or similar threat.

 

Professional Career

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Aguon was the Consumer and Professional Products Division Sales Manager for Ambros, Inc. He has served in this capacity for 20+ years and was responsible for executing the sales portfolio for Micronesia and the South Pacific.

Prior to that, Mr. Aguon managed the three largest revenue departments at Kmart as the Assistant Hardlines Manager. Mr. Aguon also held the position as Supervisor of Central Files of the Department of Revenue & Taxation where he received recognition as a certified IRS Revenue Officer. Through the late 80’s into the early 90’s, Mr. Aguon worked as a Customer Service Coordinator with Continental Air Micronesia.

Mr. Aguon is also an active member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves, holding rank as Senior Master Sergeant. During his 30+ years of service in the Reserves, Master Sergeant Aguon has held responsibilities in air transportation, information management, and currently as Air Transportation Superintendent. He has deployed to various conflicts, to include Desert Shield, Desert Storm, 9-11 Security Forces, Operation Restore Hope, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Master Sergeant Aguon has demonstrated command of leadership, management, and logistical expertise throughout both his career in the private sector and military service.

 

Education

Mr. Aguon is a Father Duenas Alumni and has attained his Associates Degree in Information Management from Trident International University.

 

Awards and Decoration

He is the recipient of numerous recognitions. Of note is the Air Force Commendation Medal for Performance and receiving 3 times, Outstanding Unit Award Total Air Force. Mr. Aguon received a certificate from the U.S. Air Force Noncommissioned Officer Leadership School and diplomas from the U.S. Air Force Noncommissioned Officer Academy.

 

Family

Mr. Aguon is married to Mikela S.C. Aguon and they have eight children; Tim, Lenard, Anthony, Zachary, Amanda, Isaiah, Oliver, and Ronan.
