GHS/OCD Host Vessel & Seaport Emergency Management Training

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the UCLA – Labor Occupational Safety and Health (LOSH) Program, will host the Vessel & Seaport Emergency Management training at the Port Authority of Guam training room, Piti. The course is offered multiple times:
  • Monday, May 7, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 8, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 9, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The eight-hour course trains local shore-based firefighters to safely and effectively respond to vessel fires, hazardous cargo, and other maritime emergencies. Participants will receive the training manual “Marine Fire Fighting for Land Based Firefighters,” available from the International Fire Service Training Association. The course includes group problem solving, table-top exercises.

Attendees for the course include firefighters and emergency response personnel who work in the maritime environment from Government of Guam, federal, military, private, and non-profit organizations.
