Flood Advisory in Effect for Guam
Issued: September 24, 2026 — 1:25 p.m. ChST
The Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) advises residents that the National Weather Service (NWS) Tiyan has issued a Flood Advisory for Guam, in effect until 2:45 p.m. ChST today, Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Current Status
At 12:41 p.m. ChST, satellite estimates and rain gauge data indicated heavy rain from showers, with thunderstorms possible, across the advisory area. An additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall is expected, which will result in minor flooding.
Expected impacts include urban and small stream flooding, with minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban and other areas is occurring or is imminent, along with rises in small streams.
What You Should Do Now
Residents and motorists are advised to take the following precautions:
- Turn Around, Don't Drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
- Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
- When safe to do so, report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and ask them to relay the information to NWS.
GHS/OCD continues to monitor conditions in coordination with NWS Tiyan and will provide additional information as needed.
