Flash Flood Warning in Effect for Southwestern Guam

The Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) advises residents that the National Weather Service (NWS) Tiyan has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southwestern Guam, in effect until 8:45 p.m. ChST tonight, Sunday, September 6, 2026.

Current Status

At 7:15 p.m. ChST, Doppler radar indicated heavy showers, with the potential for thunderstorms, producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen, with additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Flash flooding is expected in small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways and streets, and other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

What You Should Do Now

Residents and motorists in the warned area are advised to take the following precautions:
  • Turn Around, Don't Drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
  • Report flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement when you can do so safely.

GHS/OCD continues to monitor conditions in coordination with NWS Tiyan and will provide additional information as needed.
