Heavy rain from training showers and thunderstorms is expected to cause urban-area and small-stream flooding, with minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas. Motorists should avoid driving through flooded roads.
FLOOD CONDITIONS
At 10:36 a.m. ChST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain from training showers and thunderstorms.
This rainfall is expected to cause urban-area and small-stream flooding, with minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas, and ponding of water in urban and other areas occurring or imminent.
AFFECTED AREAS
Some locations that may experience flooding include Dededo, Tamuning, Yigo, Mangilao, Chalan Pago-Ordot, Barrigada, Yona, Hagåtña Heights, Andersen AFB, Talofofo, Mongmong-Toto-Maite, Sinajana, Inarajan, Asan, Merizo, Piti, Santa Rita, and Umatac.
SAFETY GUIDANCE
- Avoid driving through flooded roads. Turn around, don’t drown — most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
- Avoid low-lying and poor-drainage areas prone to ponding.
- Slow down, allow extra travel time, and use an alternate route if a road is flooded.
