JIC Release No. 16 - GWA Update

The Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA) provided an update that the GWA northern systems are operating normally, with only two wells currently off-line. High production wells are back on line. 
 
Central systems are currently being affected by reduced pumping capabilities at two central water booster pump stations, leading to low water or no water in the higher elevations of Yona, and reduced reservoir levels in Windward hills and portions of cross-island road.  
 
Isolated areas serviced by booster pumps with no back-up generators are:

JIC Recovery Release No. 15: Governor Directs Guam National Guard to Assist with Power Restoration

Governor Calvo has directed the Guam National Guard to assist with power restoration as well as security at the typhoon shelter as we continue recovery efforts. 
 
“My staff and I have met with Guam Power Authority leaders; the GPA crews are working really hard and I commend them for that. We are in a place where we can help GPA continue their efforts to restore power while also helping to ensure the safety of their employees – many of whom have been out working since earlier this week,” Governor Calvo stated.

The following Senior Centers will be open tomorrow:
•    Agana Heights Senior Center
•    Sinajana Senior Center
•    Dededo Senior Center
•    Astumbo Senior Center

All other Senior Centers will remain closed until power is restored.

The following Adult Day Care Center will operate normally tomorrow:
•    Macheche Adult Day Care Center

JIC Recovery Release No. 11 - Typhoon Mangkhut Recovery Efforts Continue

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) continues 24/7 operations in support of recovery efforts

Guam Power Authority (GPA)
Initial priorities have been met -- power has been restored to the Guam Memorial Hospital, Public Schools, Water Wells, the A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Port Authority of Guam. With those initial priorities met, those resources will now be shifted to augment ongoing efforts to address residential and commercial customers in the Northern, Central, and Southern. 

JIC Recovery Release No. 10 - Preliminary Damage Assessments Underway After Typhoon Mangkhut

Pursuant to the Guam Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, the Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) and other Government of Guam (GovGuam) support agencies have begun conducting an island-wide Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA) following the passage of Typhoon Mangkhut (26W), that affected Guam between September 10-11, 2018.
 

JIC Recovery Release No. 9 - Traffic Control to Resume; Urge Caution on the Roadways

The Guam Police Department (GPD) and the Guam National Guard (GUNG) will begin traffic control at four way intersections with non-functional traffic lights at 6 a.m. this morning and will end traffic control operations at 6 p.m. this evening.

To ensure safe passage on the roadways after Typhoon Mangkhut, GPD and GUNG were designated to man various intersections across the island, and to direct traffic in a safe and orderly fashion.
