Homeland Security Advisor, George L. Charfauros Jr.

 
 

 
George L. Charfauros Jr. was born and raised in Malesso, Guam. After graduating from Father Duenas Memorial School with honors, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.
 
He served for 4 years on active duty and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.
 
He then returned home and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Philosophy, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Guam in 1989.
 
He completed the U.S. Army Senior ROTC program in that same time frame and then received a commission as an infantry officer after completing his degree. 
 
 

He then served in the U.S Army Reserve and the Guam National Guard.

 
He was accepted into the Active Guard and Reserve Program in 2001 and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2004-2005. 
 
He earned a Masters in Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College in 2011.
 
He served as the Director of Operations for the Guam National from 2009 until he retired as a Colonel on January 2017.
 
His lifestyle includes crossfit, jiu-jitsu, swimming and chess.
